Fashion weeks for 2010-2011 Fall/Winter men’s collections are over. While some of the collections were plain, elegant and chic, some were classic, and some were avant-garde and extraordinary. Yet, for me Juun. J’s collection was one of the most impressing ones among the others without a doubt. Ultra modern, cool, innovative and wearable outfits set this collection apart from others. The South Korean designer, having exhibited his first collection in Paris Men’s Fashion Week 2007, blended details such as leather, golden pipes, golden zips and fur with ordinary jacket and coat fabrics in this collection. Although the color palette is based on blacks and grays, leathers used in bright colors glitters the collection.
I think the designer achieved a hard to get success and a cool look bringing together the contrasting fabrics, models and styles. In this journey from classic garments to street fashion, oversized and exaggerated tops, open and wide crewnecks, hoodies and bunnyhugs were at the center of the attention. I loved the surprising, illusive style of this retro-futuristic collection with no restricting boundaries and I hope to see more men around with unique styles just like those in Juun. J’s collection.
