Hussein Chalayan’s Fall/Spring 2010 show took place on 7th March, Sunday. It was supposed to debut at 15.00, whereas the start was at 15.30. His previous winter show, likewise, took start with a 30 minute delay. I couldn’t stop thinking whether this was a Parisian tradition. While awaiting for the show, I had a chat with Cem Görk, who organized IFW, on how punctual the shows of IWF were. Let’s accept that the organization is praise-deserving for punctuality. World shows are mainly familiar with the delay experience. (Marc Jacobs keeps the record with the 2-hour-long delay.) Surprisingly, the fashion shows started just on time in Turkey, which is notorious of unpunctuality in every field. Particularly Fashionable Istanbul and IFW are exemplary in this respect.
Back to our theme Hussein Chalayan Fall/Winter 2010 show… The music, a noise actually, before the show consisted of city traffic, klaxons and human talks and turned into radio noises and channel splutters, with which the show could be interpreted as being focused on the city life.
Leather hats, shoulder straps, double breasted jackets, high waist light jeans, pointed toe slippers and shoes, smoky, camel, light grey, red and white tones, deep collar dresses, mixture of different clothes, bonnets, hats, neck rests and leggings glamoured in the collection. Here are the photos:
Some of my favorite models Carmen Kass, Tanya D and Laksmi Menon were among the catwalk models. The make-up was applied by Gucci Westman with Revlon cosmetics. Bureau Betal put his signature under various details such as choreography and casting. Styling was designed by Jodie Banes.
